A Wholly People
A dandelion must hold on gently
Her seeds
Hands open, ready to let go
When the wind blows
Her children spin away
The stuff of wishes
Living unencumbered
Light as air
We remain firmly on the ground
Split like wood
Divided, divided, divided
We're not stacking up
Such promise, such hope
"You will shine like stars in the sky"
Where did it go?
More jaded patina
He waits. Turn fully towards
"Sit here, listen here, die here"
The wood rots, death makes useful loam
Seeds sprinkled, will they grow?
Long to live into His promise
Grasp for sun and rain
Get on hands and knees
To beg the weeds away
And maybe some day
We too will dazzle yellow
Relaxed, surrendered
United, alive, and free
