Finding My Value
Still
Be still.
Just sit down and be still!
And I bristle with six impulses to move
But here in this place,
Mind-strapped, forced into this place
A quiet message is whispered to me
What if you're as good doing nothing here
Than out saving the world?
What if your value is not based on what you do?
This is an impossible thought for me
Not just slipping through my grasp
But a little offensive to boot
Um, excuse me, don't you see?
I'll work to earn my keep
But He says, I'm sorry, that's impossible for you to do
You are already good enough
Because of what I've done
Get off this hamster wheel, I'm waiting for you
You won't be saved by impressive deeds
But in quietness and trust
True rest is my gift to you
You are a treasure to me
But your value is not based on you
It's based on My flawless love and what I do.
Receiving love is easier said than done
But all else pales in comparison
And with this, the rest gently falls into place
